self driving cars
"Americans have steadily been losing work to automation for decades, but the trend appears to be picking up speed. Self-driving cars, for example, could soon displace 5 million workers nationwide."
My response to this blog post is I think self-driving cars are dumb because cars are not supposed to drive themselves, you drive the car that's how it is supposed to be. Also, how would we teach a self-driving car how to break the rules of the road when needed like an ambulance is coming or other emergency vehicles.
Also what if the car loses control or something breaks like the pitman arm the vehicle won't has steering and that's not good at all. It's just not really a good idea in my opinion because one, you're not getting to where you're going any faster because the car is following every rule of the road. So really you might be getting to work or school slower than you normally would.

According to technology.com, "The car may not have the proper software to know how to navigate extreme weather conditions or tricky congestion patterns." It's gonna get people killed because of the weather changes.
Also on this website it is stated that,"200 car companies are jumping into the self-driving car space, there are not enough solid facts to create a baseline for safety standards" if there is not enough testing done companies should not just jump into it because that is just not a good idea the cars could have a problem

Has anyone been injured or killed by a self-driving car? Also, you mention something breaking in the car. If something were to break, like the pitman arm (whatever that is) would having a person at the wheel really change anything? If so, why do you think it would?
ReplyDeleteI don't like the idea of self-driving cars, either, although I think there's a chance they could be developed to be even safer than human driven cars. If you think about it, most accidents are likely caused by a human making a mistake. If cars could be programmed to keep certain distances, to see everywhere, etc. maybe there would be fewer accidents?
ReplyDeleteI agree self driving cars are not safe tesla has had a issue when they are self driving they have accelerated and crahsed now tesla is getting sued for it.
